About 55 road miles to Snickers Gap. Or about 55 trail miles to where C&O and AT shares a path near Harpers Ferry.

I live 24mi from The Bake Oven Knob in North East Pa. I will start at Katahdin though when I set out, which is 638mi.. Looks like a plane ride for me in 2016!I suggest we learn to love ourselves before it's made illegal..
about 70 miles...or an hour and 45 mins drive.....it's a jersey thing, lots of traffic, two lane road with few passing zones.
... feeling a little jealous
I started a thread like this last year when I found out that much of the trail is the same distance from home.

According to Google Maps, 503 miles, 8 hours 27 minutes by car, and 471 miles, 155 hours on foot.
Just under a hour away from Springer.
RIAP
15 minutes north to wind gap, 30 to dwg...45 minutes west to port clinton. i love it!
Currently, I'm roughly 340 miles from Franklin. Home is about 18 miles from Neels Gap.
I'm about 22 miles from Snickers Gap... and 25 miles from Harper's Ferry.
114 miles. I used Google Maps to calculate some different driving distances. I was surprised that the AT in Hanover NH was closer to North Reading, MA than the AT crossings in Massachusetts were.
About 220 miles from US 19E at Elk Park, NC. A shade closer to Troutville, VA, I guess. Each access point can be reached by one of several lousy roads from my Raleigh, NC home.
AO
85 miles to Grayson Highlands, I think is the closest point for me.
About 17 miles to Allen Gap,14 miles north of Hot Springs NC.A few trailheads which go up to the AT only 15-20 miles......
1456 km to Springer from Hamilton Ontario! Nine months to go before that 15 hour drive.
I live in downstate NY, so it's not the "miles" but the time it takes to get there! But I can utilize public transit and arrive at the AT train stop in Pawling NY in 2 1/2 hrs. give or take.
