Sad. Seems like he was a dude I would have been friends with.
Anyone know what happened?
Before we create an unnecessary panic, there is another "Waffles" currently thru hiking who is still very much alive. Real name Erik Miller.
Anybody know what happened to him?
I heard a story about a recreational pharmacologist who was bad at math. Dunno if this is the case or not.
Dyslexics Untie!
Unfortunate premature speculations aside, condolences to his family.

May his soul rest in peace. He seemed was enjoying the beauty of the trail.
I confirm what LW said.....
I was pretty freaked out by this news last night because I had met a Waffles at Neals Gap but based on the post above that there was more than one Waffles, I wasn't sure if the Waffles I had met was the one that died. His pic on the link looked quite similar but not the same and I had thought that he was more in the 23-26 age range. Nonetheless, I prayed for the repose of his soul. Woke up early and searched trail journals to see if I could figure it out. I am now sure that the Waffles that I had met at Neals Gap is the one who died.
He was full of life and a free spirit. Very friendly young man.
Slo-go'en, the exact cause is not stated, however, if you read Counselor's TJ of 6/10, I believe you will find your answer.

Seems certain media serves as an insulator to the real world for some of us. No of us are immune to whatever happened to this man. My condolence to the family.
