Default Partnership Shelter -Near Atkins VA

Friends and I are hiking form Atkins to Damascus in August. I have done it before and the last I heard they were considering taking out Partnership Shelter? Is it still there and can you still order pizza?

I hiked 25 miles to get to Partnership Shelter, looking forward to a shower and pizza that day, water was frozen and shut off to the shower and no pizza, great shelter though, I believe there may be a $50 minimum order to get a pizza delivery.

There is a minimum ($25 if I recall correctly) which should be easy to make if you have a coupleof buds. Also, cold piza packs pretty well and or makes a good breakfast.

Fond memories of Partnership. Havent heard any rumors about tearing it down, but Im not connnected with the local hiking club to be too well informed about their plans.

$25 or $50 minimum charge may seem unreasonable to some people, but you have to understand that the driver is coming out of Marion VA, which is an hour round trip for the delivery.

Last year, I provided some trail magic at Partnership. I stopped at the pizza place in Marion, ordered a dozen large pizzas, tipped their driver well, and drove the pizzas to the shelter myself. It was a great time. I may have to plan on doing that again next year.
