Zero cut. His last movie, Wizards of the PCT is the best (IMHO) hiking documentary I've seen to date and I've got high hopes for this one as well.

    Glad to hear it Mags.

HB, I'll post my thoughts once I've see the Documentary, but based in the trailer and his previous Film, I'm expecting this one to be pretty good.

Let us know. If you really say it's good I'll pull the trigger.

Is it normal to wear long pants and long sleeved shirts on the CDT? PCT?

Yup, especially in the exposed to sun areas (it's relentless). They also help in the desert with prickly cactus/plants

Very much so. High elevations and more sun exposure = Lots of UV.

Long sleeves and long pants (and a wide brimmed hat) are very effective sun protection.

In the drier west (vs the humid east), long sleeves and clothes also creates a microclimate that helps keep you cooler (c.f. Bedouins and the Berber tribes of north Africa)

I just finished watching Embrace the Brutality for the third time and have to say that every time I watch it I like it even more.

As someone who has never hiked on the CDT it is awesome and a bit shocking to see just how different it is from my familiar A.T.; the Deserts, Mountains, green stock tanks, wide open spaces, cross country routes that require map and compass and occasional bouts of insanity have me wishing that I was in a place in my life where I could get back on the trail right now. The CDT is a very different trail and very different sort of hike from the type that I am used to and it was refreshing to see that adventures like this still exist in this Country.

I've seen a good number of trail documentaries about the A.T., PCT, CDT, and ADT and find that Embrace the Brutality is one of the few that would appeal to hikers and non-hikers alike. This movie, as well as his previous release Wizards of the PCT are two of the best produced and most entertaining hiking films that I have found. Jester does a phenominal job of documenting the reality of the trail all the while keeping things lighthearted. His style of hiking and the fact that he beings and finishes his journey with many of the same cast of characters makes it easy to become invested in each of their hikes.

Bottom line is I greatly enjoyed it and this is one of the ones that was definitly worth the money. (And no Andy I'm not getting a cut , haven't even met Jester in real life)

And heck, as long as I'm plugging the movie, here is the link to the site:

DAMN, I love hiking and hikers. Some people come up with such great reflective hiking music. More sounds I have to add to my hiking mp3 player. THX Bad Wizard Productions. More great stuff. I feel ya. I've experienced the revolution too.
