    Question ME late April

    Thinking of section hiking in Maine next year in late April. What kind of climate/temps/snow to expect? Any thoughts???

    It will the the $hittiest weather of the year. Sorry to be so blunt. I'd rather do it in the deep of winter although my main hiking season is winter anyway.

    You can expect a commbination of freezing rain, soft snow for postholing, raging water crossings and mud.

    Just pay attention to the snowfall totals during the winter. We saw snow in NH until late May this past year.
