Default Out of place question: Colorado winter chalet rentals?

Hey guys, sorry for posting a question on this forum that doesn't really deal with the CT, but I thought this would be my best resource.

Does anyone know of any cheap one bedroom chalets for the winter in really any part of Colorado (preferably northern CO and obviously in the mountains)? I'm looking for just a bare bones place and my girlfriend and I would spend ~week there snowshoeing/skiing.

Or even, what is a good website to check out?

    Thanks!!
    Zach

Poudre Canyon, up towards Cameron Pass, has some "rustic" rentals available.

Cameron Pass has some of the best ski touring in the state and plenty of places to snowshoe, too.

The nearest town is Ft. Collins.

Since you go up I25 and then to 14, you avoid the I70 ski traffic.

Because it is not really a ski area in the sense of Vail or Breck, prices will be lower.

They aren't fancy, but a throwback to the lodges popular in the '50s or 60s. They all have camp stores and one or two have an attached restaurant.

    Some places to try:

There are a couple of others, but that should get you started.

I stayed at Archer's over New Year's a couple years back and it was 30 minutes +/- to some really good ski touring.

Google up "colorado mountain yurts" and poke around. Yurts are a ton of fun to stay in in the winter and they are generally very reasonable. Then there are the 10th mountain division huts... check those out, though they book up quickly, especially for weekends.

Had a minute to look this morning, here is a Yurt link, and on this page is also a link to the 10th mtn. division hut system:

The huts are cool, but tend to fill up fast. During the week is your best bet. If you are just two people, check out the 10th Mtn division boards this winter. People are often selling their slots, too, at the last minute. You may luck out for a weekend.

You ski or snowshoe in your supplies from the trailhead as an FYI.

Yep, these huts are indeed very popular, for good reason. Be sure to check on those Yurts. Yurts are essentially round tents on a wood platform. Tents in the middle of winter you might ask? Well, these yurts are somehow magically warmer than you might think, and of course they have stoves in them. We stayed in one in -20 degree air temps a couple winters ago near Monarch ski area. toasty warm and a ton of fun. That one up near Strawberry Hot Springs (delightful area near Steamboat) looks tempting for this winter...

Speaking of Cameron Pass/Poudre, there are yurts up there too. The skiing up there is really quite good.

If the yurt is something the OP wants to check out, definitely check out this area. Besides good skiing, being off I25 vs I70, less traffic, too
