    Default Hydration Guidelines for Walkers

    http://walking.about.com/cs/fluids/a/drinking.htm

I think this is something we all should read and learn. Especially with all this hot weather. Dehydration is a very dangerous place to go. Visit the "Walking water calculator" near the bottom of the article. Also study over the "signs of dehydration" hikerwife

If I hike for 10 hours I need to drink 2.25 gallons of water? I don't think so.

Do you think thru-hikers need a little guide on the 'net to tell them how much to drink? It seems like most people figure it out within the first few days on the trail. It also varies considerably from hiker to hiker, I know that because I sweat a lot I need to drink more than the average hiker does in hot weather.

I drank a lot more than 5L in 10 hours of hiking when the weather was hot.
