Hmmm. If hiking is working and working requires minimum wage and anything over 40 hours is time and a half then I would estimate that my thruhike took a 1000 hours of hiking over 14 weeks and with overtime that would be $9000 gross, that will cover a hike. WB's, I think our funding problems are over. Hiking is work! Hiking is work!
my boss actually gave me an extra months vacation pay last year when i hiked maine.
he wasnt so generous when i walked out on him this spring
but hes glad to have me back.
I'm definitely going this winter. Hopefully somewhere with snow.
you could come north you know
You can do seven 4,000 footers, about 20 minutes from here, in 2 to 4 days depending on conditions. You could actually do them all in one very long day in ideal conditions and ideal fitness, but not in snow. Four peaks on AT, two on Blue Blaze circuit off AT, and one a quarter mile bushwhack from AT. We get snow at these elevations every winter. Views are phenomenol. It is not the Whites. The upside is, you can do them in winter and snow without expecting to perish. Plenty of water and firewood and you can camp anywhere. No permits or fees. No, I don't work for the Chamber of Commerce. I just like it here. Come on up sometime and I'll show you around.
