Bought some of the kite tyvek and gave making a groundsheet a try. Came out pretty good. I made it an inch smaller on all sides.

Wrong section? No price? cool though.
Hmm, not sure how it got here. Soorry.
I have that tent. I just have a piece of tyvek. I rectangle that covers the middle. I don't see the need for covering the far corners. I've used the same piece for many years left from previous tents.
Everything is in Walking Distance
very cool.
Gotta ask, what is the difference between kite tyvek and the regular one? Is it a lighter weight?

i've ordered/used kite tyvek to make kites and always thought it was the same as the building wrap tyvek -- just without the printed advertising!
Lazarus
Snow93 - did the same thing with MY kite tyvek. I had 3 yards, doubled over and started to shed what ounces I could. Cut it to fit and I'm happy.
1azarus: I can never get close enough to the building tyvek to check it out. Either there is no one at the construction site(s) as I drive by in the AM and I don't want to get nabbed for trespassing or the Tyvek is up and sided over by the time the afternoon get here and I drive home. I NEVER see any scraps for some reason.

Tyvek home wrap is 1.7 oz per yd2, while kite tyvek is 1.25oz per yd2. Tyvek house wrap is also louder.
"Kite" Tyvek has a lower hydrostatic head than Tyvek HomeWrap, i.e. is less waterproof. Tyvek HomeWrap is not at all noisy if preconditioned by "crumpling" it a few times, then washing it in cold/warm water (no detergent).
I've not found any real need to "crumple" first. Just throw it into the washer w/o detergent and then run it through the dryer. I've found that I can cut to exact floor size before washing and it "shrinks" (actually, it doesn't shrink, it just wrinkles up a bit) and the finished size is just right.
