My partner attempted to do a 700 mile section hike last year but fell on Apache Peak and sprained his ankle. With only 170+ miles of the trail under his feet, here's what he said to me yesterday evening:

"I don't know what's the matter with me. All I can think about is the trail. I can't work. I don't even care about work anymore. All I think about is hiking the PCT."
