My boyfriend of 7 years and I have been planning to do this forever since we first started dating, so we're very excited to see this through and to meet all the amazing people (y'all!) along the way! See ya soon!
Giving 2017 serious consideration.

Am planning to start a Flip Flop in Harper's Ferry around April 24th.
Am new to the forum (and to this kind of communication tool) so please be patient as I learn my way around!

Change #1:
Polka Dot has joined me for the Georgia section.
Change #2:
We will leave Amicalola Falls on 04 Feb, vice just me on the 06 Feb. That was her idea; not mine! But there are cogent reasons to add the leg.
That accelerated departure date enables her to optimize available vacation time while still getting a full section logged. We will meet Coach at Neel Gap for grins on the afternoon of 07 Feb, at Dick's Gap on 10 Feb for more grins, and at Standing Indian Shelter on the afternoon of 11 February. Coach will have hiked up from Standing Indian Campground and the three of us will camp overnight near the shelter. On the morning of 12 February they will return to PTC as I continue northward. Anyone in the area of SI Shelter on the morning 12 February will likely hear me talking to myself - for any of a variety of reasons!
No trail name yet. Possibly one before I start.

March 13th; my 18 year old nephew will accompany me until March 17th, hopefully the 1st 40 miles or so.
Approach trail: NO.
NOBO but really doing small goals of 100 miles at a time, seeing how body is doing, then another 100, repeat, etc. Age and medical issues (and a thru-hiker's suggestion) make this the best way for me to approach the trail.

Solo hike, female
I'm an American, but have been living in Germany for many years. First long hike in the US, and first sleeping in a tent. I stayed in mountain huts in the hikes I did in Europe. Really good food - way better than Ramen noodles!

Grayson Highlands
Not quite a thru at this point, but a continuation of last years hike that ended in injury at Grayson Highlands. If all goes well I will hopefully return to Grayson to go south after reaching Baxter.
After flopping back and forth a couple times, my wife and I have decided to hit the AT in lieu of the PCT this March. I finished the AT in 2015, but my wife has only done 330 miles of it, and I don't mind repeating the hike AT ALL, so we're there, booked flights to Atlanta (dirt cheap, $79 direct from Denver!) and even booked the Hiker Hostel.
Anyway, we're Rocket and Stockings, heading NOBO on March 8th, getting close enough now to actually start a bit of planning! This time I plan on enjoying the approach trail, which I skipped the first time. My personal goal is to not camp at any of the places I did the first time, with a few exceptions. We probably won't shelter much if at all.
See some of you on the trail! Look for a couple of cranky 60 year olds.... (Stockings is actually only 59...)
