I wonder if they replaced it every year and sold the old one on e-bay, if it would be a money maker for the trail.

Just to clarify, it's not my report (alas, I wasn't there) but something that showed up on my hiking forum a day or so ago.
Thanks for sharing. It is a wonder they don't have to change the sign more often. It takes a lot of abuse up there!
i'd like to be the first to carve my initials in it
Hey great shot of the sign. Coming up on our 1 year anniversary of our summit and not a day goes by that I dont miss it all. What a great day when i touched that sign.
Just when I think I have something personal on Big K, they replace it with plain vanilla - oh well!
As I live, declares the Lord God, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn back from his way and live. Ezekiel 33:11
Awsome.....one day I too will be there.....
Hehe...can you imagine the look on the faces of the thru hikers that make it through but haven't heard about the new sign? What a surprise!

That sign went to crap in the last 4 years. Here's a Aug 2005 shot.
Sorry - you knew somebody was going to post an old phot.
Pain is a by-product of a good time.
Sign might have gone to crap...good to see the fog was fine after 4 years
I can wait to get there! I look forward to that day but I'm in no hurry. We're in Palmerton today and this might end up being my second zero here. Whovever finishes first....goes home first! Thanks for sharing this though...it motivates me to go to the hotel and get another beer!
