hello first timer here.. ,,plan to start mid-may,,,section hike Georgia to approx. hot springs. need info how to get public transportation from any area fairly close. need to get train or bus back to boston,ma..........also, what is the least rainy....time on the southern section of the a t....may june july (ie) thankyou henry...trail name will be (tuna)

Try giving this a shot. Many rural counties offer para transit and rides with space available to " the general public".

I've used a similar service in Charlottesville, VA to get close to the trail then hitch the final mile or so. This service states $12.00 ides to Asheville. Check to see if you qualify.

If you can make it further north to Erwin, TN, nearby Johnson City has both Amtrack and Greyhound service. Miss Janet might can shuttle or arrange a shuttle for you.

Asheville is the closest Greyhound station to Hot Springs and the station is on the far side of town with limited hours. There are some motels and restaurants about a mile down the hill from it. Also, I noted a city transit sign out front on the highway during my brief stopover.

Flying in and out of Asheville can get expensive. You could go out of Tri-Cities as well. Greyhound goes back to points along the trail pretty good. I think you woul dhave better luck using a shuttle provider because Buses could leave you waiting for a quite a long time. Id look at getting one of the guidebooks that has the shuttle and public transportation info in it and utilize this service for your planning
