Default Hammock camping for a 6'4'' male?

I tried a Hennessy Expedition Asym for a 3 night trip. First time in a hammock. Loved it! Before I buy one, any advice of the size? They have hammocks for 6ft and for 7ft people. Is there really a difference that justifies the extra $100+ for the extra foot of room?

How long are they? 11' and 12' or thereabouts? I would venture a guess that anything over 10' would be passable. I'm 6' and a 9' hammock works, a 9'4" one was better. I'm looking to jump up to something in the 11' range. The longer it is the more diagonally you can lay and thus the flatter it gets. Check out www.hammockforums.net for a wealth of info.

I tried the standard Ultralite Asym and my legs would jam up into the top unless it was hung juuuuust right, so I gave it to my daughter and got the Explorer Ultralight Asym instead. Makes a big difference and I'm only 6-2. I've been using it more than ten years now, held up just fine. I did replace the original rainfly with one from Maccat for better coverage.

Go talk to the folks on the Texas Hammock Hangers Forum.....they will help you. Contact the venders directly that are listed on the "HammockForums"
The people that run the HammockForums place are a bit rude.
There are wonders out there, now to find them.

I'm 6'3 and have the long HH. My kids have the 6ft and I can't sleep in it. Yes it is worth the $100

I'm so confused, I'm not sure if I lost my horse or found a rope.

Thanks for the replies. Great stuff to chew on. Stay warm, stay safe (especially if you are getting hit by the blizzard this weekend). Last night I watched a video of a guy hammock camping in -40 degree.

So I wouldn't go so far as to say "rude". Texas hammock forums was spun up by a group of folks who took issue with a policy that hammock forums had. Both are good sources for info, hammock forums has been around much longer and has a lot more information contained in it archives. Both forums have members who can come off as "know it all's", but that's life.....

If you like the HH, go for it. I'm 5'7" and going to get a WB XLC.
