looks he’s lost his lead but is still right on top? mental fitness tested here I am sure, on top of being worn out day after day. Amazing effort no less! This is better than cableTV

The heat wave has got to be slowing him down. I can't even imagine how brutal it would be trying for 50+ mile days in this weather.
It's all good in the woods.

I ran a couple miles with Kristian this evening. I agree that he's looking good, and is in great spirits. Had some trouble with quads but it is getting better. Going down the Priest today was not fun for him. He'll be entering Shenandoah NP tomorrow morning. Ready for a break in the weather. Tomorrow should not be as humid as today, and the weekend will be very nice. He crewed Sabbe for about 13 days on his FKT so he knows what he's up against.

this is so close, I've been checking the tracker daily. He was behind a couple miles until the last few days he jumped ahead a couple every time I looked. Now he just fell behind but I imagine will probably be ahead by the end of the day.

His passing the midpoint of the trail on the summer solstice suggests that he was looking for exactly that.

Perhaps at his point of conditioning, the heat is simply not a factor.

When I ran a very short way with him last week, he asked if there was a break in the heat coming, and was happy to hear there was. So he's feeling the heat, just not letting it beat him. I'm sure his conditioning helps a lot with that.

Kristian is rolling nicely. He's the real deal. Let's hope he can hang tough once he gets thru the junk of PA and NY. He'll have a little break on terrain, then we all know what lies ahead. Killing it, nonetheless so far.

The race starts when he gets to the Whites. This is just a warmup.
