Generally if it's a good looking spring, no treatment. If a stream or pond, AquaMira.

I've taken to filling my water bottle directly from a spring drip (not the pool below the drip, where animals and other contaminants can reside) and consuming without treatment. Otherwise I go with Aqua Mira.

MIOX. Pricy (mine was a Christmas gift), needs special batteries, but can generate all the chlorine you need. And when you click the button and the water in it starts fizzing and foaming, it's got a major cool factor!

It would be interesting to see these votes as a function of miles walked. I think a lot of hikers start the AT with a mechanical or electrical device, and finish with something else.

Or finish with nothing. I started with Aqua Mira, but by the halfway point I wasn't using anything.

Frankly most of the time I'm too tired to bother on a long distance or thru hike. Either that or mooch off the guy with the pump, but I didn't see that as an option?
