Nice location and a nice place to live, 1.5 miles from Dicks Creek Gap. Wrong time for me.

Dyslexics Untie!
Sounds like a possibility for PorkchopBob. . .
Very popular spot. Laura and Fran did a great job.
Am sure another proprietor could be successful there.
Like the OP said, search Hiawassee listings at www.realtor.com, just narrow your search - it's listed at $114,900.00
More pictures are available at Fannie Mae listings website, I think it's www.homepath.com

Fran and Laura did do a good job there but I think they found the area had several options for hikers that were hard to compete with. The Bluberry Patch is just great and right down the road from the Cloud 9 property. Almost everyone needs/ wants togo into Hiawassee for resupply and a meal. That makes the several hotels an option especially since most people are not into "sharing" rooms this early in the trip. Ron and Sam cover most of the needs for shuttles, nice rooms and outdoor space for hikers to use. Anyone wanting to consider a hiking business there should think about this... I sure considered it as a possibility for my own plans but I felt like the needs are met well there.
.
Hate to say it, but I think Ron and Sam have moved on.
But Janet's right, I think a lot of folks would prefer to be right in town, especially as there are affordable motels, many restaurants, a friendly library, two large supermarkets, etc.
I willmiss the guys! They had a really difficult year and mentioned looking at another adventure... good for them.
Yes there are many lodging options for Hiawassee, but Cloud 9 was super busy during the thruhiker season.
I have Laura's email address. If anyone wants firsthand knowledge, PM me.
