Must have been right after "family break up" junveniles are very unsure of themselves after momma runs them off. Sometimes they hang out moving from tree to tree. A very traumtic time for young bears. Soo cute. -

People shouldn't "fear" bears ..BUT they should "respect" them..and at a distance, especially if it's a sow with cubs. I once walked up on a very big sow with 2 cubs in the Smokies. She just made some sort of noise and her cubs ran up a tree and she just and down in the trail about 40 yards from me and just watched me for an hour until I made a wide circle around her off the trail. That was on Welch Ridge in the Smokies enroute from Clingman's Dome to Hazel Creek on a trout fishing trip. -

Great pic. Bears in adolescence are just as out of proportion as the average teenager. Still a pretty creature though
