Class of 2025
I tried a thru in 2008 and got 700 miles. Is it too early to start a thread for us middle aged persons that are planning on hiking after retirement?

I'm 50 myself and have 2013 as a target. Don't scare me with this 2025 stuff.......lol

I think it's great that you're looking that far ahead.
That being said, I see that you're fifty now, which would make you 67 in the year 2025.
If at all possible, I'd try really hard to thru-hike before you're 67.

I might be in this class if I live to see it. 2025 is suppose to be my retirement year. I hope that I can retire before then and I pray that it doesn't move back.

Barring unexpected suddden wealth, which is, sadly, not likely, I'm in for 2118. Maybe 2117 as a southbound. Meanwhile I'll enjoy hiking in the Northwest. Any interest in a more general discusion of the needs of us older hikers?

Here in eastern Washington? We just go a two+ foot dump in the valleys. Nothing special in the mountains yet.

I always said I would retire in 2025 at the age of 52. If things go as planned I may even be able to retire at age 50, either way the first year I retire I will be back on the A.T. My goal is to hike the A.T. the first year, PCT the second year, CDT the third, and then do some cross country cycling trips. I hiked the A.T. in 09 and I can not wait to get back out there.
