    I can't imagine not brushing with toothpaste. Like Sara, I've been through a root canal so I'm fastidious about dental hygiene.

    Studies have shown that brushing with plain water is just as effective as using toothpaste, you just won't get that minty taste. One of the ingredients in toothpaste to make it white is the same stuff they use in wall paint to make it white.

    On a similar note, I've found that shaving with plain hot water is just as effective as using shaving cream. I haven't bought shaving cream in almost 10 years.
