    Good point. You never know what's on the bottom of the riverbed. I was trout fishing and more than once caught a snag under the water that I just couldn't get undone. Knowing that I had a couple of hooks under the water made me sure to wear my shoes while wading. After all, I certainly wasn't the first to fish that section of the creek. Plus there's always the risk of metal cans or broken glass, etc.
