Any second now. Seriously, they may start to be a nuisance at the end of May, early June is the worst and they start to taper off by early July. Every season is different.
The Mosquitos have been out for a week but haven't been too bad in the Pinkham Notch area
They are swarming in the lower Whites right now. Not biting yet, just buzzing around the face. Will be biting as soon as the temp gets above 70 for a few days.
Everyone has a photographic memory. Not everyone has film.
We were hiking the Wapack Trail in Southern NH this past weekend. Black flies were out during the day.
I'm in Mass. and they and they're out in force now.
They are out, not yet biting too much in Southern NH. At least not where I live.

Thanks very much for the replies. I'm thinking of doing the AT in NH soon, so will take my head net, sleeping net and repellent. Thank you very much.

Had to go to a funeral in New London, NH in early June. Coming back down I89, my wife asked me if it was raining as she heard the constant noise of something hitting the windshield. I told her that she was hearing the black flies and 'skeeters crashing into the glass. Must have mushed millions of them. Good thing we had a heavy rain the next day which got the debris off the car, but I guess it didn't help with the original problem.Originally Posted by celt
