Thanks for the info - got a trip out on the Amtrak and made contact with a shuttle there.
Hi,
I am currently trying to get from the Albany airport to North Adams, MA on Sunday, Sept. 12. I have tried the ATC shuttle list with little to no luck (still waiting on a couple of responses)....
True, and hikers love stickers.
They would probably be a less expensive option as well.
Here is an idea....I don't know if it would grab the interest of everyone hiking this year, but it is something that can bring back solidarity in the hiking community (which will be needed this year)...
No, it cannot be done on 1500 dollars alone, but can be with 1500 dollars and a tremendous amount of willpower - and also provided that you have most of the gear/replacement gear that you will need. ...
This made me remember one of the links on the old thread, in which people were commenting on the suspect's odd behavior at a local dog park.

I think it's quite relevant - the perfect book to read to prepare for a thru-hike attempt. It gives the basics, and answers many questions that first-timers have quite succinctly. If you look at...
Can we please start posting links when new information comes out? Otherwise, this thread will be filled with "where did you get that info" posts.
Thanks.
Yes, in a perfect world, this will keep you from incriminating yourself.
However, full cooperation is a person's best bet. If he cooperated, he probably would have been released by now (had he...
If there were real evidence, he would not be a POI, he'd be a suspect, and they would be/would have charged him upon apprehending him.
When law enforcement seeks out POI's, it is their hope to...
I don't think we know enough specifics to be using this as a cautionary tale - being that the last person seen with her isn't cooperating (which does speak volumes).
There are plenty of things...
Well, being as how you're a male, if you start needing hormones to regulate your monthly cycle, you should probably place your immediate concerns elsewhere.

I've never been a...
So....you only hike for a week at a time, each year? Is that what you are preparing for?
Technically then, all you need to worry about it what goes on during that week, and a lot of other stuff...
Yeah, that sounds exactly like the predicament of every homeless single mother on Earth. If anything else, you should realize that there is a huge amount of diversity, diverse thinking, and diverse...
The law in Texas, I believe, covers auto accidents and drunk driving only. If a fight at a bar occurs, I don't think the bartender and/or owner is charged, are they? Aside from that, the laws in...
You know, hostel owners take on a lot of risk when they open up their doors to all of us out there. Unfortunately, when things such as this happen, some of them are forced to shut their doors...
My hitchihking experience in Troutdale, back by popular demand:
I came off the trail in Troutdale on a Sunday, which meant (if you know the town) that the gas station/grocery store/restaurant was...
That's the point with mental illness. It's still a relatively new study and diagnosis, and most cases are trial and error. But, that should not take away from the severity and impairment of some of...
That's a very good question, L. Wolf. If he has the equipment, I'm sure he'd be game.
Damn homicidal bears. Who's giving them guns???
Great place, and great hostel owner. One of the highlights of my 2004 hike.
If you challenge him to a game of disc golf or miniature golf, be careful! Mike may take you up on it!
That's simple, actually. There were too many cases of police doing just this thing, with negative consequences. There are thousands of cases on record where police, with or without a search...
A cop has to have a reason to pull you over. How did the cop know he didn't have an ID before he requested it?
By and large, I've seen law enforcement taking more and more of our rights away...
I would like to hear all the good things that PEOPLE bring to the trial, to be quite honest with you.
I do know, however, that animal occurrences were rare the times I've hiked around people...
